Artist's Comments

Since I am back showing samples of what we did, here is a page from "Shatterstone", the second project AHC has worked on. This was (still is) intended as a pitch for a project on a dark urban fantasy theme in which we poured a lot of time and effort in order to create its world and characters. After the first chapter was done, however, we both felt that the project deserved a better sequential presentation than the one we managed... Again, learned a lot during the process, but right now leaving it for further work later on. That said, I would love to hear what you think ;)

The lines and space turned out beautifully for this page! I can't wait to read the rest of it!!! (If I get a chance) The characters really had a presence and seemed to take up space on the page. In particular, and this will seem random, but the clothing and the connection of body to couch, it all looks quite organic and real. If I were to critique anything it would be the white space behind the woman in those two panels, the stark white of those panels seems somewhat off. Overall beautifully done!

This is goregous. Your line placement and definition are so confident, thick to thin variation is fanastic! And you use gradients and blacks nicely.

The rendering of the female through the panels exudes confidence in character and poise, I feel a lot of her personality already just by how she is drawn, great! :D

For my own works I usually pencil and ink on paper, then scan pages and tone/letter them in Manga Studio. For AHC works (as this one) I pencil the pages on paper, then scan them and Dee inks them in Manga Studio then does tones in ComicWorks. Good luck with your webcomic! ;)
